SUPPORT totalling more than £10,000 has been gifted to homelessness charity The Wallich via the Edenstone Foundation following a gala dinner.

Just over £5,000 was raised by suppliers, contractors, staff and other guests of the Edenstone Group at the event held at Cardiff Exchange Hotel.

Comedian and actor Mike Bubbins was the MC for the evening, with speeches given by Edenstone Group chairman, Jeff Taylor, and Lindsay Cordery-Bruce, chief executive of The Wallich.

The Wallich is the first cause to benefit from the Edenstone Foundation, having previously received a grant of £5,000.

Martin Taylor, managing director of the Edenstone Group, explained: “We’re grateful to everyone who helped make the inaugural Edenstone Foundation gala dinner a great success. Their generosity will enable The Wallich to continue to offer emergency accommodation and ongoing support to those who need it most.

“Along with our own active fundraising, we’re also continuing to invest a proportion of the proceeds of every home we sell into the Edenstone Foundation so that as the business grows, more good causes will benefit.”

Contributors to the auction and raffle prizes at the fundraiser included GRJ Interiors, LT Scaffold, DBD Distribution, JJ & JL Lee, Involve Recruitment, Jewsons, Knight Frank, PTS, and Parrys Estate Agents.

Mike Walmsley, corporate fundraising manager for The Wallich, said: “In the last year, The Wallich has seen a further increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness. On average, we help around 100 people each morning who have slept rough the previous night across Wales.

“The fantastic support from the Edenstone Foundation will make a real difference in preventing homelessness and will help vulnerable people to re-build their lives. The generous sum raised could help secure beds in emergency accommodation for those who would otherwise sleep rough, pay for their first months’ rent and bond to transition from supported accommodation or put people through our six-month employability project to help people find a sustainable route away from homelessness. On behalf of our clients, we are incredibly grateful for the Edenstone Foundation’s support.”
